I studied Bioinformatics (Computer Science + Biology) in Jena (Germany).
I got my Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at the HKI-Institude in the MBD group and continue to work here as a postdoc.
My original areas of expertise were algorithm engineering for OMICS data, RNA-Seq analysis, and systems biology, but I have specialized in gut microbiome research by now. I am also a system administrator for the MBD group.
When I am not working, I enjoy reading about anything and nothing, playing board and video games, and looking into science totally unrelated to my own field.
If you come to Germany, you should try Luebeck Marzipan. It is a little bit on the pricey side, but it is totally worth it!
